Foreign Ministry Spokesman Kong Quan's Comment on New Demands Raised by the Men Who Seized the Chinese Citizens
2005-01-24 00:00

Q: It is reported that the men who seized the Chinese citizens demanded that the Chinese Government should prohibit Chinese citizens from entering Iraq. What's China's reaction to that?

A: What I'd like to stress is that, prior to this incident, the Chinese Government warned its citizens on many occasions not to go to Iraq for the moment. It was on their way leaving Iraq that the 8 Chinese were seized. They should be set free in safety as early as possible.
